WATER ALERTS IN MEXICO – UPDATE May 2, 2025

As of April 2025, approximately 41% (999160 square kilometers) of Mexico is under drought conditions and 18% (440379 square kilometers) is Abnormally dry. A slight territorial increase since our previous report in March .

There are 2 new Drought Alerts in Mexico for a total of 22. Most alerts are in northwest area of the country.

Upgraded to Extreme Drought from Severe Drought:
Mazatlán, Nuevo Laredo

Downgraded to Severe Drought from Extreme Drought:

Tijuana - downgraded to Severe drought in April 2025
Tecate - Downgraded to Severe Drought in April 2025
Rosarito - Downgraded to severe Drought in April 2025
