WATER ALERTS IN MEXICO – UPDATE March 23, 2025
As of March 2025 approximately 39% (953107 square kilometers) of Mexico is under drought conditions and 16% (394528 square kilometers) is Abnormally Dry. A slight territorial increase since our previous report on February 20, 2024.

There are 13 new Drought Alerts in Mexico for a total of 23. Most alerts are in northwest area of the country.
Upgraded to Extreme Drought from Abnormally Dry
Camargo, Rocky Point, Los Mochis, Ciudad Acuña, Ciudad Juaréz, Tecate, Heroica Caborca, Navohoa, San Luis Rio Colorado, Piedras Negras, Rosarito, Mexicali, and Tijuana.
upgraded to Exceptional Drought from Extreme Drought
Ciudad Obregón, and Nuevo Casas Grandes.
