WATER ALERTS IN MEXICO – UPDATE July 7, 2025
As of June 2025 approximately 40% (967639 square kilometers) of Mexico is under drought conditions and 21% (499525 square kilometers) is Abnormally dry. A slight territorial increase since our previous report.
Map List
There are 4 Drought Alerts have been downgraded to Severe Drought and taken off the map. 22 alerts remain. Most alerts are in northwest area of the country.
Downgraded to Extreme Drought from Exceptional Drought:
Mazatlán, Ciudad Acuña, Piedras Negras, Cuauhtémoc, Nuevo Casas Grandes
Upgraded to Exceptional Drought from Extreme Drought:
San Luis Rio Colorado
Downgraded to Severe Drought from Extreme Drought, off Map:
Hidalgo del Parral, Nuevo Laredo, Culiacán, Chihuahua, Delicias

Flooding
There was an alert for Lázaro Cárdenas in the southernmost parts of Michoacán, in the wake of hurricane Flossie.
